No. 4 women’s lacrosse used six different goal scorers with two goals each to survive a late scare on a frigid night in St. Louis, Mo.

First Quarter
Keiser 5, MoBap 2

  • Chloe Foley opened the scoring for Keiser after just 82 seconds of action.
  • Abbey Cannon followed it up by outrunning every defender and finding the back of the net with 11:04 on the clock.
  • Missouri Baptist got on the board with a free-position goal before Emily McCall got a free-position goal of her own to give the Seahawks a 3-1 lead.
  • Sydney Passaro and Cannon scored two more to up the lead to 5-1.
  • With just over a minute to play, the Spartans scored their second of the game to make it 5-2 at the end of the first. 

Second Quarter
Keiser 8, MoBap 4

  • Hayley Frew took advantage of the man-up situation to notch her first of the game to begin the second.
  • Back-to-back goals from Jordan Haeusser brought the Spartans back within two with 10 minutes to play in the half.
  • McCall added her second of the game on a free-position chance with just under eight minutes to play.
  • MacKenzie Gibaud closed out the quarter with a finish right in front of the net to give Keiser an 8-4 lead going into the break.
Third Quarter

Keiser 12, Georgetown 6

  • Tylia Myers scored her first of the game just before Madison Andrews got her first of the evening to put Keiser ahead by six with 12 minutes to play in the third.
  • Following a Spartans goal, Passaro grabbed her second of the night to keep the lead at six with five minutes left in the third.
  • Missouri Baptist would find the back of the net again with just over four minutes to play.
  • Foley ended the third with her second of the night to give Keiser a 12-6 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 14, Georgetown 12

  • MoBap scored after just 47 seconds in the fourth to cut the lead down to five.
  • Myers would counter with a goal of her own to push the lead back to six with 11:15 on the clock.
  • After a goal by the Spartans, Andres would double her count to put KU up 14-8.
  • Missouri Baptist would threaten with four consecutive goals but they would come too late as Keiser would hang on to a 14-12 win.

KU Highlights

  • 23: Keiser scooped up 23 groundballs over the 60 minutes to the Spartans’ 22
  • 10/11: KU was efficient at working the ball from the back to the front, going 10-of-11 in clearance attempts
  • 8: Eight different Seahawks grabbed a goal in the game against MoBap
  • 5/3: Cannon led the team with five points on the night with a team-best three assists and two goals
  • 5: Rebecca Gibson led the team in caused turnovers with five to her name
  • 4: Milena Isturiz picked up a team-best four groundballs in the contest
  • 4: Margaret Wroe and Cassidy Green each tallied four saves in the game as Green got her first start and win on the year
  • 2: five more girls scored two goals in the game as Andrews, Foley, McCall, Myers, and Passaro all hit the mark
