Lynn: 14th-ranked Women Defeat Davenport

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Freshman Elizabeth Clagett and sophomore Kristyn Johnson each posted five points to lead the 14th-ranked Lynn University women to a dominating 18-4 win over Davenport, Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Knights are now 3-1 overall. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
– Lynn dominated the game in nearly all phases, outshooting Davenport 32-10, causing 14 of the Panthers 24 turnovers and holding the visitors to just 11-of-20 clears 
– The Fighting Knights were 15-of-18 on clears and scooped up 21 ground balls 
– Lynn outscored Davenport 3-1 in the first quarter but the Fighting Knights blew the game open with an 11-1 scoring edge in quarters two and three 
– Lynn also posted an 8-0 scoring run that covered the second, third and fourth frames as the hosts led 15-2 following the scoring outburst 
– Claggett opened the second quarter with back-to-back goals and Johnson added three goals to help Lynn to a 9-2 lead at halftime 

– Claggett scored two in the third before freshman Hannah Exley scored two goals of her own in the third and two more in the fourth as the Fighting Knights led 15-2 following Exley’s goals 
– Sophomore Mallory Jarka, junior Diane Dohler and and junior Lauren Dickson each scored in the fourth to close out the contest 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
– Claggett finished the game with four goals, one assist, four ground balls and three caused turnovers 
– Johnson scored three goals handed out two assists and picked up three ground balls 
– Jarka finished with two goals and two assists, Exley scored four times and Dohler scored two with one assist 
– Callista Elica needed just four saves for her third win of the season
