NLL: Wings to Retire Kevin Finneran’s Number 11

via NLL press release

FLN: Great honor for Kevin, who has done so much for lacrosse in South Florida. I’ve gotten to know him well over the years (we actually grew up in the same town on Long Island) and while he blames my alma mater to this day for not winning ANOTHER ring, we put that aside . . . Congrats Kevin! This is quite an honor!

Today, the Philadelphia Wings announced the organization will honor 2021 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Hall of Fame selection Kevin Finneran on January 27 when they retire his No. 11 jersey to the rafters of Wells Fargo Center. Finneran’s jersey will join the likes of Wings legends Tom Marechek (#42), Jake Bergey (#66), and Dallas Eliuk (#35) alongside other Philadelphia Flyers & 76ers icons. Selected as an NLL Hall of Fame inductee in June 2021, Finneran was one of the first additions to the Hall since 2016.

From 1993-2002, Finneran helped bring four NLL championship titles to the city of Philadelphia. At the time of his retirement, Finneran was the all-time league leader with 143 games played. With the Wings, Finneran ended his career with 192 goals scored and 283 assists, totaling 475 points (third-overall in Wings history). Finneran has also held the record for most consecutive games played at 139 games and was once the American all-time leading goal scorer.

In addition to retiring his jersey to the rafters, the Wings will honor Finneran with a special pre-game ceremony which will include a video tribute and jersey presentation. Fans will have the opportunity to join in on the celebration with a special meet and greet with Finneran as well as an option to add a Wings Alumni Bar Crawl to their game ticket. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a retirement banner replica giveaway.

The Wings will also sport retro Legacy Jerseys for the special night. A limited quantity of custom Legacy jerseys are available for purchase at wingslax.com. Orders will be available for pickup at the Hall of Fame game on January 27.
