North Broward Preparatory School Tabs Josh Blumenthal as Head Boys Lacrosse Coach

North Broward Preparatory School is excited to announce the appointment of Josh Blumenthal as
Head Boys Lacrosse Coach for the 2023 season. Coach Blumenthal joins NBPS after recently serving as
Director of Athletics/Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
Prior to his stint at Wayland Academy, he served as the associate athletic director and head varsity
boys lacrosse coach at St. Andrew’s School in Austin, Texas for five-years.

Before coaching in Texas, he had collected over 20 years of coaching experience at the youth, high
school, college, and international levels receiving four Coach of the Year awards.

“Coach Blumenthal has had a tremendous track record of leading successful programs throughout his
career. We are excited to have him join our athletic program and NBPS community as our Head Boys
Lacrosse Coach,” said North Broward Prep Athletic Director Mike Ostrowski. “We feel he is a great fit
to lead our program and will have a positive influence on our student-athletes.”

The 2013 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coach of the Year, Blumenthal guided the Regis
College Pride program to highs for number of wins. The Amityville, N.Y. native has coached numerous
athletic and academic all-conference selections along with an NECC Conference Players of the Year,
Pilgrim League Second Team All-Conference, NEILA All-Star and Academic All-Region participant.
While at Babson, Blumenthal helped the Beavers to a pair of winning seasons and an appearance in
the Pilgrim League playoffs while helping coach a male ECAC All-New England Goalie in 2010. On the
women’s side, Blumenthal helped guide the women’s team to back-to-back NEWMAC Championships
and NCAA Tournament appearances, with the Beavers advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2010. In addition,
he coached a two-time Women’s NEWMAC First-Team Goalie and a two-time Second-Team IWLCA
All-New England goalie.

Blumenthal has a diverse coaching background serving as a coach at the NCAA Division II, III and high
school levels. Prior to his work at Babson, Blumenthal was an assistant coach at Northeast-10
powerhouse Adelphi. His initial time in Florida came about in 2005-08, where he spent four years as
the head varsity lacrosse coach and sports information director at Palmer Trinity School in Miami. He
led his team to a top-10 finish in South Florida in three of his four seasons and produced numerous
All-State players, a County MVP, Academic All-American and four Senior Athletes of the Year. In 2006
he was named Miami-Dade County Coach of the Year.

Blumenthal played lacrosse at the University of Rhode Island and was a member of the 2001 Pioneer
League Championship team. Blumenthal received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from URI in
2003 and attained a Master of Arts in Sport Management from Adelphi in August of 2009.
