PBA Men’s Lacrosse Dominates Quincy 23-12

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse team picked up its second nonconference victory of the season over Quincy 23-12. PBA tied a program record for most goals in a game with 23. Henry Sloyan and Hunter Lizza scored four goals each. PBA freshmen Sarver AdamsKeegan Southard and Bryce Downs all notched hat tricks. Additionally, Cooper Porter scored two goals and Jonah RobertsonDylan InsoliaHunter Sheffield and Noah McKoeun scored one each. 

Caleb Southard facilitated and distributed six assists for the ‘Fish. PBA outshot the Hawks 52-45 and picked up eight more ground balls. McKoeun dominated at the faceoff x. The Georgia native took 22 of 33 faceoffs. The Sailfish won the faceoff battle 24-14. 

Defensively, Dylan HuntChristian Bond, and Cole Gehman caused one turnover each. Insolia led the ‘Fish with five caused turnovers. Ben Lightsey started in net and made nine saves. Nicholas Conklin made his fifth appearance of the season for PBA and made three saves. 

PBA opened the game up on a 3-0 run. Lizza started the offensive frenzy when he scored PBA’s first goal. A Hunter-to -Hunter connection resulted in PBA’s second goal as the ‘Fish executed a fast break with 12:28 left in the first quarter. Sheffield brought the ball up and found Caleb Southard who threw a skip pass to Lizza back to Sheffield. Sheffield cut to the net and scored his first goal of the season. The PBA defender has scored five goals in his career. Adams took it himself for PBA’s third goal. The Hawks stopped their scoring drought with 9:34 left in the first quarter. Caleb Southard capitalized off a QU penalty and assisted Porter for PBA’s fourth goal. With 7:42 left in the first quarter Lizza connected with Sloyan for his 75th career-goal. Lizza finished the game with two assists. PBA led 6-2 after the first quarter. 

McKoeun started the second quarter in style. Eight seconds into the second quarter, the PBA senior won the faceoff, picked up the ground ball and ripped a shot for his first goal of the season. The goal marks McKoeun’s fourth in his career. Sloyan scored two consecutive goals for the ‘Fish and notched a first-half hat trick. Goals from Porter and Adams closed out the half on a 2-0 run for the ‘Fish. 

The Sailfish led 11-6 at halftime and maintained their lead throughout the duration of the game. PBA outscored the Hawks 12-5 in the second half. Downs scored all three of his goals in the fourth quarter for PBA.  PBA moved to 1-0 all-time versus Quincy as this was the first ever matchup between these two programs.
