PBA Sailfish Announce 2023 Men’s Lacrosse Schedule

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse team announced its schedule for the 2023 season. PBA hosts 9 of 14 games at the Rinker Athletic Campus. 

The Sailfish enter the second season of head coach Jesse Vanatta‘s tenure. The ‘Fish went 5-8 last season, and four players received All-SSC honors. Additionally, 12 newcomers have been added to the roster for the ’23 campaign. The Sailfish slate features six opponents that finished last season ranked in the USILA Division II top 20. 

PBA opens the season in St. Augustine against Flagler on Feb. 10 followed by four home games. Adelphi travels to West Palm for PBA’s home opener on Feb. 17. The Sailfish start SSC play versus Saint Leo on Feb. 25 for the first of two tilts with the Lions. The ‘Fish close out the home stand with Barton on Mar. 4 and Davis and Elkins on the seventh. 

The ‘Fish travel to Tampa on Mar. 11 for a road test versus the defending national champions. PBA faces Quincy for the first time in program history on St. Patrick’s Day followed by a matchup versus Colorado Mesa on Mar. 22. 

The month of April wraps up the regular season with six SSC games. The Sailfish battle the Lions for their second matchup on Apr. 1. The ‘Fish travel to Florida Tech on Apr. 8, and then host Lynn on Apr. 12. Following those games, PBA travels to Embry-Riddle on Apr. 15, and faces Rollins at the Rinker Athletic Campus on Apr. 19. PBA concludes its regular season at home versus Florida Southern on Apr. 22. 

Offensively, key returners for PBA are headlined by Henry SloyanHunter Hopman, and Caleb Southard. Sloyan led the Sailfish last year in points and goals with 41 and 31, respectively. The veteran midfielder is the all-time leading goal scorer in PBA history with 61 career goals. Southard distributed the most assists for the ‘Fish last season with 12. Additionally, the Palm Beach local made the SSC All-Freshman team. Hopman returns to the midfield after he tallied 20 goals with six assists last year. Defensively, Dylan Hunt is coming off an impressive freshman season that earned him SSC All-Freshman honors. Hunt caused 23 turnovers and picked up 25 ground balls.
