Pace Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2022 Team Captains

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On the eve of their 2022 opener, the Pace University men’s lacrosse team officially announced its team captains for the upcoming campaign.

The Setters will be led this season by Walker Azzaro (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra)Kyle Casey (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown)John Dickson (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon)Zachary Powdermaker (Allentown, N.J./Allentown), and Matthew Rice (Shelton, Conn./Shelton).

“We are very proud and confident in the ability of these five men, and look forward to attacking what lies ahead together,” said head coach Tom Mariano. “They embody the mission of Pace Lacrosse and are constantly looking to become a better version of themselves “

Azzaro is a four-year member of the squad with 16 game appearances to his name. Last season, he registered four goals and an assist in 11 contests.

Casey transferred into the program this past fall from Division I UAlbany. He tallied 61 points (34G, 27A) in 40 career games with the Great Danes.

Dickson has been a part of the Blue and Gold across his entire four-year career at Pace. He has appeared in nine games.

Powdermaker is in his fifth season with the Pace men’s lacrosse program. He has seen action in 13 games as a Setter goalkeeper.

Rice has appeared in 22 contests during his four-year Pace career. Last season, he started 12 of the team’s 13 games with 14 ground balls and four caused turnovers.

The Pace men’s lacrosse team will begin its 2022 campaign on Wednesday against Caldwell.
