This region is basically two teams at the top in Vero Beach and Hagerty, and then a lot of competitive teams for the rest of the bracket.

Last year we came down to the VB-Hagerty regional final and it looks like a repeat.

The battle for the last few at-large spots is wide open, as D7 is clearly a one-bid district.

District 5

Hagerty, Lake Howell and Winter Park are all in the Regional bracket right now, with Edgewater Fourth Team Out, and likely too far back unless they make it past Hagerty, which is asking way too much right now. Lake Howell and Winter Park are very close to each other in the rankings, so that semifinal might well mean a #4 seed since both of them are also close to Windermere in D6.

District 6

Only a 4-team District, and Lake Minneola and East Ridge are Second/Third Teams Out, while Windermere and West Orange hold #4 and #8 respectively. It should make for a heck of a district on paper.

Windermere did not play Lake Minneola this year and holds a one-goal win over West Orange. East Ridge also did not play Windermere, but did beat West Orange. This is really shaping up to be fun.

District 7

Right now, Celebration is the district favorite and holds the #6 seed, with no other D7 teams appearing.

It’s a one-bid district given the bunching across the region no matter who wins. Bartow is their closest competitor but Celebration holds an easy win over them already.

District 8

I didn’t pick up on this before, but this looks like a pretty big geographic area for a District.

Right now, Vero is ranked #1 in the state in 2A, right ahead of Hagerty. Viera, the #3 seed, is #12, so they are likely not vaulting Vero even if they win the final here. Sebastian River is First Team Out, and they have the most to play for. A win in the first round over Lake Nona, and a good effort versus Viera would make it interesting for that last at-large bid.
