Saint Edward’s Further Strengthens Boy’s LAX Program with New Hire of Jamie Hanford

Vero Beach – Saint Edward’s School’s Athletic Department announced the hiring of Jamie Hanford as an assistant lacrosse coach this week.

Mr. Hanford is currently an assistant coach with the Chaos Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League and is a Co-Founder of the Eclipse Lacrosse Club in Fairfield, CT. Mr. Hanford was a 3-time All-American at Loyola College from 1996-1998 and served as team captain in 1998 while leading Loyola to the Division 1 Final Four Lacrosse Tournament. He was the Division 1 Face-Off Man of the Year by Inside Lacrosse Magazine in 1998. He played professionally and was a 3-time all-star in the Major Lacrosse League and a 2-time all-star in the National Lacrosse League. He also played for Team Ireland in 2013 and was a member of Team USA’s World Cup team in 2000. Mr. Hanford was inducted into the United States Lacrosse-Connecticut Hall of Fame in 2012.

Head of School, Dr. Stuart Hirstein, states that “Mr. Hanford brings a wealth of knowledge to our Lacrosse Program and will have an immediate impact on our student-athletes.” Greg Zugrave, Athletic Director at Saint Edward’s, stated that “Jamie fulfills our continued commitment to excellence within our athletic program, and we look forward to having him join our team.” Head Coach Doug Bailey said that “Jamie’s expertise as a Defensive Coordinator at the professional level will help solidify our team defensively, and it is no secret that defense wins championships!”
