Saint Leo Men: Flores Rolls Over Falcons at the Face in Lions’ Home Opener Victory

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s lacrosse team enjoyed their first game back in University Turf Stadium Friday night under the lights. The Lions topped the visiting Montevallo Falcons, 19-11, led by Michael Flores, a sophomore faceoff specialist from Apopka, Fla. Flores won 23 of 30 face off for the Green and Gold to improve to 1-1 on the season. Meanwhile, Montevallo took its first loss of the season, now 2-1.
 
Flores’ work set up four teammates to record hat tricks. Evan Wray, Rayna Marek, Timothy D’anunono, and Petyon Tyson each found the back of the net three times. Wray and Marek both wrapped up the night with five points apiece followed by Guy Bistrow and Adam Tekman each with a pair of goals and two assists.
 
Evan Hock earned his first win between the pipes. The freshman goalkeeper gobbled up 13 saves in 60 minutes of work.
 
Saint Leo will look forward to returning to action at University Turf Stadium. The next faceoff is set for Sunday, Feb 20 at 1:00 p.m. hosting the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers.
