Saint Leo: Women’s Lacrosse Victorious in Home Opener 14-6

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team push past Georgian Court by winning 14-6.

The Lions now move to 3-0 after a comfortable win over Georgian Court that saw them keep the lead for the large majority of the game.

In the first quarter, Senior Lia Lamendola got things started for the Green & Gold just over a minute into the game while being assisted by Junior Fiona McLaughlin.

Saint Leo went into the second quarter with a 7-1 lead.

The second quarter saw a bit more of the same as Saint Leo grew their lead to seven heading into halftime with a 9-2 lead.

Saint Leo extended their lead even further to 10 with a 13-3 lead at the end of the third quarter.

There was a bit more action from Georgian Court in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the final score of the game was 14-6 with the Green & Gold victorious in their home opener.

The leading scorer for the Lions was Lamendola who finished with three goals.

Close behind was McLaughlin who finished with two goals and one assist.

Up next, the Lions will continue at home as the Seton Hill Griffins come to University Turf Stadium. The game is scheduled for March 7th with the start time at 7pm.
