Lynn Men Roll at PBA

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Lynn University men’s lacrosse team never trailed in its Sunshine State Conference game with Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday en route to a 14-5 win. The win evens the Fighting Knights record to 7-7 overall and they sit at 2-3 in the league.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Lynn outscored the Sailfish in each quarter, including a 6-1 edge in the second half
– The Fighting Knights outshot PBA, 37-30
– Lynn caused 18 turnovers and finished 19-of-23 on clear attempts
– Palm Beach Atlantic won 17-of-23 faceoffs
– Senior Joseph Michalski, graduate student Stephen Becker and senior Jalen Stanton each scored in the first quarter to push Lynn’s lead to 3-1
– Stanton and sophomore Connor Houston each scored twice in the second quarter as the Fighting Knights increased their lead to 8-4 at intermission
– Senior Thomas Murray opened the third with a goal just 54 seconds into action and finished the quarter with two goals
– Stanton opened the fourth with a goal and sophomore Dylan Colon closed the evening with a goal at 10:44
– Graduate Colin Casey notched nine saves in the win in goal
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Stanton closed the evening with four goals, his fourth four-goal game of the spring
– Murray scored twice and added one assist
– Houston scored three goals
– Michalski and Becker each added one goal and two assists
– Graduate Mikey Troese tied a school record with caused six turnovers to go along with five ground balls

Sailfish Drop SSC Game Against Fighting Knights

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse team dropped an SSC game to Lynn 14-5 at the Rinker Athletic Campus.

Noah McKoeun dominated at the faceoff x. The Georgia native won 17/22 faceoffs and picked up a team-high nine ground balls. PBA’s Sarver AdamsBlake RowseCooper PorterDylan Insolia, and Hunter Hopman scored one goal each. Additionally, Rowse distributed two assists. 

Defensively, Cole Gehman led the ‘Fish in caused turnovers with two. PBA defenseman Jake Bacilek picked up four ground balls. Ben Lightsey started in net and made a game-high 14 saves. 

The ‘Fish won the faceoff battle 17-5 but committed 12 more turnovers than the Fighting Knights. Lynn took seven more shots than the Sailfish and picked up eight more ground balls. 

PBA’s lone goal in the first quarter came from Adams. Adams dodged downhill and ripped and overhand shot for his tenth goal of the season. The ‘Fish produced offensively in the second quarter. At 9:41 in the second quarter, Rowse connected with Insolia on the perimeter. Insolia launched a shot to the back of the net for his tenth goal of the season. With 6:29 left in the first half, Caleb Southard assisted Rowse in front of the net. Rowse has scored five goals this season. Southard leads the Sailfish in assists this season with 12. 

The Sailfish experienced a scoring drought in the second half. With 12:33 left in the game, Hunter Hopman ended the drought and scored his 42nd career goal. Off a faceoff, Hopman picked up the ground ball and ran to the opposing net. The PBA senior ran through the Lynn defense and ripped a shot in transition for his seventh goal of the season. Hopman has scored four goals in the last two games for the ‘Fish. 

Next, PBA travels to Daytona Beach for an SSC matchup with Embry-Riddle on Saturday, Apr. 15.
