Stetson Hatters Defeat Seahawks 14-11

DeLand, Fla- The Hatters claim the victory at home against Wagner, 14-11 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hatters took an early lead against the Seahawks at the beginning of the first quarter 3-0, led by Camden Frissora with the opening goal. Samantha Paglino closed out the first quarter with two goals and Jesscia Duggan and Katie Kornacki both had one each. Wagner would follow up by getting one on the scoreboard, and closing out the first quarter with the Hatters leading 5-1.

Jordan Hymphrey opened up the quarter with a free position goal at 13:04. A lull in the defense allowed Wagner to creep up on the scoreboard. Duggan had one more goal to close out the half with the Hatters holding onto the lead with a score of 7-5.

Stetson’s offense was unstoppable in the third quarter, as the Hatters put four more balls in the back of the net. Georgia Goering got in on the fun in the offense with the first goal of the second half at the 14:18 minute mark of the third quarter. The Hatter’s went into the final quarter maintaining the lead 11-7.

The Hatter draw controls were led by Kornacki and Aine Williams with 4 each. Kornacki also got in on the defensive action leading in caused turnovers. Stetson’s defensive effort in the third quarter was led by Isabella Fernandez and Caroline McLaughlinSydney Heimann had 6 saves in Stetson’s crease.

The final quarter was back and forth between the Hatters and the Seahawks. The Seahawks started the quarter putting 2 goals on the scoreboard and Frissora answered with another goal, 11:26 minutes remaining in the game. Williams stretched the lead and Kaitlin Pani gave the Hatters the edge they needed to finish the game victorious with a Hatter win 14-11.

The Hatters will travel to Hartford, Connecticut to face the University of Hartford Sunday, March 26th with a 12:00 p.m. draw.
