Stetson Hatters Fall to Flames

Lynchburg, VA – Stetson (7-6, 0-3) took on ASUN foe Liberty (8-6, 4-0) on Saturday afternoon coming up short 6-26.

In the first quarter, the Hatters would surrender nine straight goals before Jordyn Humphrey would put Stetson on the scoreboard at the 5:05 mark. Georgia Goering would score next for the Hatters from a free position shot. The quarter would end with the Flames getting another goal to lead Stetson 10-2 after one.

Stetson was able to get six groundballs and turnover Liberty eight times in the second quarter. Humphrey would get her second goal of the game to start the scoring in the second quarter at the 12:33 mark. Liberty would respond with one of their own and at the 8:55 mark, Molly Kearney would net a goal from a free position shot to make the score 4-11 still in favor of the Flames. Liberty would score the next five goals to lead Stetson 16-4 at the half.

Liberty would start the scoring in the third at the 12:22 mark, Samantha Paglino would respond with her first goal of the afternoon at the 10:38 mark from a free position shot. The Flames would add another and Sam King would respond with her first goal of the day at the 6:14 mark to make the score 6-18 still in favor of Liberty. The Hatters would surrender three more goals making the score 6-21 Liberty after three.

Despite five shots on goal and seven groundballs the Hatters were held scoreless in the final quarter. Liberty would net five more goals make the final score 26-6 in favor of the Flames.

The Hatters will return to action tomorrow as they continue their road trip as they face Delaware State at 11:00 a.m.
