BOX SCORE

ST. CHARLES, Mo.- The Jacksonville men’s lacrosse team’s stellar defensive play led them to a 15-5 victory over Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon.

JU STAT LEADERS
GOALS- Jacob Greiner (3)
ASSISTS- Jackson Intrieri (3)
CAUSED TURNOVERS- Tucker Garrity (3)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lindenwood opened the game with three goals in the first five minutes of action. After that, however, the defense tightened down the hatches and shut out the Lions for over three quarters of action. The Lions ended their goal drought with just under seven minutes to play in the game, but the stout JU defense proved to be the difference.

The Dolphins set the tone in the groundball categories as they recorded 48 to Lindenwood’s 25. JU was led by Nathan Kapp in that respected statistic. The redshirt junior scooped up 10 groundballs, while Jack Heed complimented his teammate’s effort with four himself and two caused turnovers. Tucker Garrity led the team with three caused turnovers, though five Dolphins recorded at least one.

Offensively, Jacksonville was led by the duo of Jackson Intrieri and Jacob Greiner. Intrieri led the team in assists with three and added a goal to his stat-sheet while Greiner had the inverse with a first half hat-trick and one assist. The Dolphins offense shared the ball brilliantly as 12 of their 15 goals scored were assisted goals. Garrity and Brandon Galloway dished out a pair each while five others had one assist.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Intrieri has taken sole possession of most points on the team in conference play with 28 points
  • The Dolphins forced 27 turnovers as a team
