A Reason to Shave Your Head; Saint Leo Lions Join Lacrosse Community in Nationwide Fundraiser

via Saint Leo press release     SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s lacrosse team lost some lettuce in the name of charity this week. Seventeen members of the program shaved their heads after hearing Head Coach Brad Jorgensen‘s connection to the Boston Children’s Hospital and an opportunity to raise funds for the beloved hospital. In May of 2003, Brad and his wife Caroline, was in every parent’s nightmare. There oldest son, Thomas, was born deprived of oxygen among many other complications. Thomas needed immediate attention from Boston Children’s Hospital, the No. 1 Pediatric Research Hospital in the world. “I’ll never forget,” said Brad Jorgensen. “The doctor sat at his desk and said, “Brad, Caroline, we don’t use the word miracle around here loosely, but it is awfully tempting in this case.” Sixteen years later, Thomas is a healthy normal kid with a promising future. The Jorgensen family credit the care and expertise they received at Boston Children’s Hospital to their son’s happy and healthy life. The Jorgensen family along with the entire lacrosse community now has the opportunity to give back to the hospital that tremendously impacted the Jorgensen family, along with the thousands of other children and families. Lacrosse For Life has partnered with a generous donor that will donated $1,000 to Boston Children’s for every college lacrosse player that shaves his or her head on Sunday, March 1, 2020.   Lacrosse For Life looks to bring the collegiate lacrosse community together under a shared goal; to support the lifesaving care and research provided by Boston Children’s Hospital. To participate in the haircut fundraiser reach out to LacrosseForLifeShaving@gmail.com. Members of the Saint Leo men’s lacrosse team were already able to participate in the initiative to help promote the event. Seventeen Lions donated their long locks to support the Jorgensen family and ultimately future families in need of the same expert care.
