Swim 4 Nick Awards 7 College Scholarships!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , .
Author’s Note – for those who are not familiar with the Swim 4 Nick charitable efforts, the event is named after Nicholas Dworet, one of the victims of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas shootings a few years ago.  Nick’s then girlfriend, Daria Chiarella, is the daughter of Taravella Boys Head Coach Joe Chiarella.  Nick had accepted a swmming scholarship at the University of Indianapolis the previous month, hence the focus of the Foundation. Contributions are greatly appreciated and the donation instructions are in the article.   Hello everyone, We hope you and your families are all doing well! It’s been a trying time for all of us and we look forward to the day we can all see each other again. Hopefully soon! At this time Swim4Nick has decided to postpone the SWIM4NICK Ocean Race until a time when we feel it will be the event that we would like it to be. We do not have a date at this time and don’t want to speculate on one. We know that you are going to be looking forward to this amazing event as much as we are. We are working our details for the new date and will let you know as soon as we have more information. In other news we have awarded seven college scholarships to local swimmers this year which is the most we have ever awarded! We look forward to all the great things these swimmers will accomplish in the years to come. This year we are proud to be able to give out a total of seven (7) $1000 scholarships in Nick’s honor. Two of the scholarships were awarded to members of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas swim team, three were awarded to members of TS Aquatics swim club, and two awarded to Broward County high school swimmers which is a new scholarship for 2020. We are proud to have these swimmers receive these scholarships and use the money towards their continued education. Recipients are as follows; MSD Scholarships: Kenan Kocoglu (New Jersey Institute of Technology) Penelope Jacobson (Brandeis University) TS Aquatics Scholarships: Louis Bucaro (University of Indianapolis) Delaney Biro (Florida International University) Emme Ham (Barton College) Broward County Scholarships: Leonardo Mateus (Yale University) Chloe Carignan (Birmingham-Southern College) Congratulations to all this year’s winners! We look forward to your continued success! Our web store is open for business and we are shipping items on a regular basis. Please check out the store and get your SWIM4NICK items!
