via press release by Katie Callahan

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida lacrosse head coach Amanda O’Leary announced Friday the hiring of Nicole Levy as assistant coach for the Gators.

“We are incredibly excited to have Nicole join our staff,” said O’Leary. “She has great knowledge of the game, a plethora of experience and brings a level of passion that we love to see. We are very fortunate to have her in the Orange & Blue.”

Levy arrives in Gainesville after spending the last three seasons at the University of Colorado.

“I couldn’t be more excited to begin this new chapter of my career with an amazing staff and incredibly talented team,” said Levy. “I have learned a lot throughout my career and hope to bring my knowledge and creativity to each student-athlete.”

Levy Coaching History
During the 2022 season, Levy helped lead the Colorado Buffs to an 11-6 overall record, including wins over No. 10 Denver and No. 24 Stanford. Under Levy’s tutelage, the Buffs were led by attackers Sadie Grozier (49g, 9a) and Charlie Rudy (37g, 13a) – both of whom were named to the 2022 Pac-12 All-Conference Second Team.

During her second season, Colorado recorded an 8-7 record and finished 4-3 in Pac-12 play. The Buffaloes advanced to the championship game of the Pac-12 Tournament for the third consecutive year.

Levy’s first season with the Buffs was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but in that time, Colorado recorded a 3-2 record. In the final two games of the season, the Buffs scored a combined 40 goals against Oregon and Coastal Carolina.

Levy Playing History
Levy spent her four-year collegiate playing career at Syracuse University, while also earning a degree in Human Development & Family Science. During her tenure at Syracuse, she recorded 81 assists, ranking eighth all-time in SU’s history.

The East Islip, N.Y. native also finished 10th in the record books for total points (222) and was just the 10th Syracuse player to eclipse the 200-point mark.

Levy was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List three times, earned IWLCA All-Region honors in each of her four season (two First Team selections, two Second Team selections) and was selected to the All-AAC Second Team during her senior campaign.

In her senior season, she started all 21 games for the Orange and totaled 57 points on 29 goals and 27 assists. Levy ranked second on the team as a junior with 51 points and as a sophomore, she tallied 25 goals and 22 assists for 47 points.

During her freshman campaign, she racked up all of the awards. Levy was named the Lacrosse Magazine Rookie of the Year, the AAC and ECAC Rookie of the Year, along with an Inside Lacrosse All-Rookie Team honor. The NCAA All-Tournament Team selection, she finished third on the team in points (68), goals (46) and assists (22), while earning 18 starts.
