Women’s Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight, Defeats Slippery Rock

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Junior Sydney Hill and sophomore Kristyn Johnson each scored four goals with one assist as the 14th-ranked Lynn women’s lacrosse team rolled past Slippery Rock, 15-8, Sunday at Bobby Campbell Stadium.
 
The victory is the fifth straight for the Fighting Knights and they are outscoring their opponents by over 10 goals during that stretch.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– The Fighting Knights rallied from a 7-6 halftime deficit with a run of seven-straight goals that gave the hosts a 13-7 cushion midway through the fourth
– Lynn closed the game with the final two goals to set the final at 15-8
– The Fighting Knights outshot the Rock, 27-19, and finished 20-of-22 on clears attempts
– The Fighting Knights opened the game with three goals for a 3-0 cushion at 9:25
– Junior Lauren Dickson scored at 14:05, sophomore Mallory Jarka connected on a shot at 11:55 and Johnson scored at 9:25
– Johnson scored off an assist from Hill with 12:24 showing in the second quarter for a 6-4 lead
– The Rock rebounded with three-straight goals to close out the first half with a 7-6 advantage
– The second half was a different story as Lynn took control by outscoring the Rock 9-1
– Johnson started the rally with the first goal just 32 seconds into the third quarter
– Hill scored three-straight goals and Johnson capped the seven-goal run with her final tally of the game with 6:38 left in the fourth
– Freshman Elizabeth Clagett scored with 4:33 left and Hill capped the afternoon with the game’s final goal with 1:06 showing
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Jarka contributed three goals
– Dickson finished with one goal and two assists
– Clagett scored twice and added an assist
– Graduate student Ciara Moorman picked up her second win of the season with three saves in 30 minutes of play in the second half
