Ricky Savage’s overtime winner sends St. Edward’s lacrosse to 1A state semifinals

Trying times are best figured out when they take place with the people you care about most.
On Tuesday night, the St. Edward’s boys lacrosse team returned to the field that let them free their minds as they continued dealing with tragedy. The result was everything they had hoped for and then some as sophomore Ricky Savage delivered the golden goal with 2:37 remaining in overtime, hitting the back of the net as he was falling down to send the Pirates to the 1A state semifinals with an 11-10 win over Lake Highland Prep.
“That last play, I saw I had a free chance with the flag down,” Savage said. “I saw a shot up the middle, and I had to take it.”
In light of the tragic passing of popular senior basketball player Bidensky, “BT” Termidor that took place the day they were supposed to play the biggest game of the season on April 28, thoughts of playing a game were the furthest thing from anyone’s mind.
