SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s lacrosse season is here, opening with four straight road games. The Lions hit the road on Saturday, Feb. 8 to meet Colorado Mesa, who is ranked No. 20 by the USILA, in Jacksonville, Fla. Saint Leo will open the decade with 12 games, six away and two neutral site meetings, leaving four home games to be played at University Turf Stadium. The Lions are slated to be home on Saturday, March 7, Friday, March 21, Saturday, April 4, and Saturday, April 11.
Saint Leo men’s lacrosse team was polled No. 16 in the 2020 US Lacrosse Magazine’s Nike Division II Preseason Poll and received votes by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). The Lions concluded 2019 as the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Runners-Up with a season record of 10-7, 4-3 in the SSC.
Head Coach Brad Jorgensen enters his 15th year at the helm, returning five of eight 2019 All-Sunshine State Conference members: senior attackman Philip Buque, senior long stick middle Ethan Ticehurst, senior long stick middle Collin Beck, sophomore attackman Tyler Eames, and sophomore short-stick defensive middle Peyton Tyson. Ticehurst’s successful career earned his second-straight Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American accolade. As a unit, the 46-man squad welcomes back 31 players while featuring 16 newcomers. The strong roster beckoned a second-seed SSC Preseason Poll prediction.
