2016 MLL Awards and Updates: Week 15

via MLL press release   John Grant Jr, Will Haus, and Myles Jones take home Week 15 awards   Warrior Offensive Player of the Week It’s time to update the record books. John Grant Jr. scored 10 goals in the win for Ohio on Saturday for a new MLL record for most goals in a game, previously held at nine. John Grant Jr. also overtook Casey Powell to become to MLL all-time points leader at 534.   Warrior Defensive Player of the Week Will Haus and his defensive efforts for Charlotte were crucial in their comeback victory to secure a playoff berth. Haus picked up five groundballs and scored a goal in the first quarter.   Cascade Rookie of the Week Myles Jones ended his rookie season with a stellar seven-point performance. In Chesapeake’s loss to Charlotte, Jones scores three goals, including a two-pointer, and dished out three assists. This comes after he tallied six points last week against New York   Rochester Rattlers 18 Atlanta Blaze 9 With a one-goal game at halftime, the Rattlers used a strong second-half performance, fueled by three goals each from Jesse King and Dhane Smith to end their season at home with a win. Coca-Cola Player of the Game: Dhane Smith   Boston Cannons 11 Florida Launch 10 The Launch entered Boston looking to treat Casey Powell to a farewell win and spoil the Cannons’ playoff hopes. Boston unleashed a five-goal final quarter capped off with the Kevin Buchanan game-winner. Coca-Cola Player of the Game: Kevin Buchanan   Ohio Machine 22 New York Lizards 13 For the second time this season, the Machine dropped 22 goals on the defending champions. While Rob Pannell broke the record for points in a season with 74, John Grant Jr stole the show by scoring 10 goals, a new MLL record, and became the MLL all-time points leader (534). Coca-Cola Player of the Game: John Grant Jr.   Charlotte Hounds 15 Chesapeake Bayhawks 13 After going scoreless in the second quarter, the Hounds’ balanced offense came alivecin the second half behind John Haus, Dylan Donahue, Joe McCallion, and Mike Chanenchuk to beat the Bayhawks and clinch a playoff berth.
