Bartram Trail Moves Back In-St. Andrew’s Still On Top of Weekly Top Ten Coach’s Poll

  1. Boca vs Jupiter 2St. Andrews – During week three (the week of this vote) St. Andrew’s crushed American Heritage – Boca and got a solid win over a nationally ranked St. Anne’s-Belfield.  They have since suffered two straight losses to national powerhouse teams McDonogh and Boys’ Latin.  They have a lot riding on this week’s game against Jupiter.
  2. Jupiter – Our voters have a lot of respect for a tough Boca Raton team and did not punish Jupiter for the narrow 7-6 escape from that team.  Jupiter has a huge chance to seize the number one spot with a victory over St. Andrew’s.  Something tells us that St. Andrew’s is not interested in dropping three in a row.  Has that ever happened??
  3. St. Thomas Aquinas – The Raiders doubled up a good Pine Crest team 21-10 and then dispensed with the young upstarts at Barron Collier 11-6.  A solid week against some solid competition.
  4. Lake Highland – You know you have a tough schedule when you are voted to the top- ten list with a 3-3 record.  (LHP is now 4-3 with last night’s win vs. TFA) Lake Highland is playing one of the toughest schedule’s in the state and dropped a game against Boys’ Latin and a scored a win over Boone last week.   They have Benjamin coming up on Friday.  There are no easy weeks for the Highlanders.
  5. Ponte Vedra – The Sharks have once again shown that they are the top team in North Florida. They defeated Bartram Trail, Nease, and Creekside in three straight games to put themselves at the top of the District 5 pecking order.  They flipped with Benjamin in the poll this week.
  6. Benjamin – Solid 13-4 and 14-4 wins over Pine Crest and Dwyer.  They have already beaten Columbus this week and head to Orlando for a LHP vs PV _optchance at Lake Highland Prep this Friday.
  7. Lake Brantley – A narrow win over Winter Park did not hurt the Patriots in the poll this week.  They retain the number seven spot and are inactive until the 19th when the take on Apopka and then a huge game against Hagerty.
  8. Hagerty remains undefeated and in the number eight spot in the poll.  They still have the toughest part of their schedule ahead and will pick up some more believers if they can handle the likes of Lake Mary, Lake Brantley, Creekside, PV, and Lake Highland Prep. They have a big finish!
  9. Boca Raton – Boca had a tough week with losses to Jupiter and Benjamin.  They will need a strong showing this week at Spanish River and St. Thomas Aquinas to stay on our top ten.  They are deep into the meat of their schedule right now need some momentum here  in the middle of a brutal three week stretch that features Benjamin, Jupiter, St. TA, St. Andrew’s, and  Vero Beach.
  10. fuzzy_optBartram Trail made it back into our top ten.  Bartram Trail just beats all of the teams everyone is talking about.  Maclay? Creekside? Winter Park? They beat them all.  Their only loss at this point is to Ponte Vedra.  We aren’t sure they have the strength of schedule from here out to move up too much.  Unless they pull the upset at Lake Highland Prep.
Lake Mary, Vero Beach, and Tampa Jesuit also received votes this week.  We suggest keeping an eye on Tampa Jesuit.  They have some breathing room on their schedule right now and then come out with St. Andrew’s, Jupiter, and Lake Highland Prep in three straight games.  An upset in one of those opportunities could move them up.
