Our friends over at SnipersLacrosse.com asked Saint Andrew’s Junior Midfielder, Jake Fields, to chronicle the Scots’ experience at the Big City Classic. After arriving for our 6:15 flight to Newark, New Jersey, none of us Scots really had grasped the concept that we would be playing the game we love in the same stadium that NFL stars play in every Sunday. We landed around 8:30 and immediately made a beeline to the Rutgers Prep High School to meet with the Easton Lacrosse representatives to test out the new Raptor helmet they are creating. After a long practice we went back to the hotel to relax and prepare for our first visit to the New Meadowlands Stadium. Being a fan in the billion dollar stadium is great, but we were treated like VIP’s while receiving tours and an on-field pass to watch Syracuse practice before their game. Overall, the experience is like nothing else and gives off an indescribable feeling of accomplishment, making all those hard practices worth that much more.
