From the Orlando Sentinel Bishop Moore attacker Joey McMahan delivered his message loud and clear. “We’re ready to go out there and show the Florida lacrosse world that we’re more than a contender, that we’re going all the way,” McMahan said. The Hornets are a long way from the state title, but Tuesday night’s performance showed they’re on the right path. McMahan’s offensive wizardry led to five goals and five assists as Bishop Moore, ranked second in the Sentinel’s Super Six, defeated sixth-ranked Lake Brantley 15-11. “We came out really hot and our whole team showed up tonight,” McMahan said. “We kept filling up the goal and fighting hard.” It’s Bishop Moore’s 13^th victory, the most since 2006 when the Hornets finished as the state runner-up. “They put together three and a half quarters tonight, which is the first time they’ve done that,” Bishop Moore coach Craig Cook said. “My boys are peaking at the right time.” After falling behind 5-3 early in the second quarter, the Hornets (13-3) held Lake Brantley scoreless for more than 18 minutes and built an 11-5 lead. “We kept turning the ball over,” Patriots coach Brian Theiss said. “Every time we would get it, we would start to get our offense set and we would throw the ball out of bounds.” Read the rest…
