Starting this summer and continuing this fall and winter, Between The Lines Lacrosse is coming to Central Florida. What makes this program unique is the talent and experience of its coaches. The key to the next generation of Florida lacrosse players performing at a higher level is in learning lacrosse fundamentals properly, prior to playing junior varsity and varsity lacrosse in high school. Over the past ten years, lacrosse in Florida has continued to improve with players’ skills constantly surpassing prior generations. Along the way, more and more lacrosse camps have been available to younger players in Florida thanks to the many current or recently graduated college players who come back to Florida and offer to teach kids what they have learned playing lacrosse. College coaches from division I, II, and III schools have recognized the growth of lacrosse in Florida and many times participate in or host camps that our Florida youth players take advantage of attending. But still many players at junior varsity and varsity levels do not get the chance to experience those camps with college level coaches attending from around the state. Improving this opportunity to interact with highly experienced coaching, training techniques and providing young players with the proper skills is the motivation behind the formation of Between The Lines Lacrosse. Starting with consistency, proper technique, repetition, and positive motivation, BTL has developed a program with a foundation found in the camps, academy and training that BTL will provide to 2nd through 8th grade boys aspiring to be athletes in high school and college lacrosse. Offering a camp and six-week academy two times a year, BTL is the answer to being properly prepared to play lacrosse at the highest levels. BTL is open to all players from different schools, clubs and programs in Florida to practice, play and develop their game together. One of the BTL philosophies is based around the idea that when players are isolated from the lacrosse population by only playing and practicing with one group or team, they limit their ability to develop their full potential. Bringing together kids from all over the state to be taught lacrosse properly by a staff that consists of coaches with high school, college and Major League Lacrosse experience, in addition to a long list of coaching awards and accolades, including six separate Coach of the Year awards and the US Lacrosse High School Coach of the Year award, twice. BTL will also feature guest coaches, including the likes of Davis Anderson. Learning to play lacrosse under the tutelage of the BTL coaches, Davis Anderson went on to become the Captain of the 2016 NCAA Division III National Champion Salisbury Seagulls. Now Davis will share his experiences with attendees of BTL and help inspire kids to be the best. BTL will kick-off its program on August 20th at the first class facilities of the University of Central Florida Athletic Center where players will be able to “heat up” their skills at BTL’s inaugural Summer Sizzle Lacrosse Camp. Featuring some of the South’s best lacrosse coaches, BTL’s Summer Sizzle Lacrosse Camp has been designed for all players, grades 2nd through 8th, to develop their lacrosse skills, participate in competitive, fast-paced drills and learn lacrosse the correct way. Four-time state champion head coach at Lake Highland Prep, Chris Spaulding, will run the camp. Coach Spaulding brings over 20 years of head coaching experience to the camp and believes that Between The Lines is the next step in “establishing Florida as a hotbed of lacrosse which will allow players to continue to be recognized on a national scale.” Go to www.BTLLacrosse.com to learn more about Between The Lines Lacrosse and their exciting new program.
