Cardinal Mooney won a defensive 5-3 battle with All Saints Academy in a district 8 match up Thursday night. All Saints dominated the game through the first half. CMHS fought back slowly in the second half and finally grabbed the lead late in the 4th quarter.  Stand outs for CMHS were Drew Morgan, Jimmy Valenti (Cpt.), LSM Chase Osterman and a stingy defense including Louie Carey, Ben Walsh, Jack Leibold and goalie Andrew Sileo.  CMHS spread the ball around with five different players scoring goals including, sophomore middie Nick Galmin, freshman attackman Drew Morgan, senior attackman Tim McGrail, freshman middie Grant Windham and junior middie Rico del Torres. The Saints played hard and actually held the lead deep into the second half.  In a very classy act, the Cardinal Mooney head coach made it a point to talk to the visiting Saints players after the game. He complimented the young Saints squad on their courageous play and sportsmanship. Coach Sussingham of the Saints stated to Inside Florida Lacrosse “I really appreciated the comments to my players form Cardinal Mooney coach. He is a class act.” Cardinal Mooney (4-0)takes on another district rival in Berkeley Prep (0-3) next Tuesday and All Saints Academy (1-2) will host John Carroll Catholic on Saturday.
