Miami Country Day and Columbus players congratulate each other after a great double overtime game
Even though his team lost this game in double overtime, Coach Penengo, of Miami Country Day School kept things in perspective.  “This was the greatest game I have been a part of in South Florida in my 18 years coaching here.” Columbus got the final big play in their double overtime District Win last night when Grant Nordland put away the game winner. Miami Country Day held a 9-8 lead half way through the fourth quarter. James Callado and Jared Robins had the opportunity to put the game away with just minutes to go, but it just wasn’t meant to be tonight for the Spartans.   Their coach felt like his guys had given everything they had. “Steven Brown, James Callado, and Cody Savits held it down on defense all night.” Jared Robins dominated the draw and Dylan Schwartz led the scoring for the Spartans. The Spartans did not capitalize on their Extra Man opportunities, however, and that hurt them down the stretch. This was an amazing game all around. The Spartans face a strong Barron Collier team on Friday looking to bounce back from this very tough defeat.
