Columbus Keeps Rolling – Headed to District 29 Championship

The Columbus Explorers continued their winning ways into the District semis by defeating a strong Miami Country Day team by a score of 20-7. Senior attack Nicky Rodrigo directed the Explorer offense and led the team with another great game with 4 goals and two assists. The Spartan attack was led by the efforts of Jared Robins with three goals. Junior attack Steven Hernandez aided the Explorer scoring with a balanced game scoring four goals while adding six assists. The balanced Columbus attack benefited from the solid play and hat tricks by Grant Nordlund (3 assists) and Tyler Volovar(1 assist), two goals by Marcus Davide, and goals by Jake Quigley, Jim Perry, Sebastian Cancio, Michael Bulnes. Scoring for the Spartans was Sam Cohen, Brian Hernandez, David Butter and Aaron Carlton. Defensively, Columbus was once again tough in the trenches aided by the solid play of Alex Ferran who tallied double digits in ground balls. Columbus will advance to the final against Gulliver Prep, who defeated Ransom Everglades to advance.
