Creekside’s Nick Eccher Headed to Holy Cross

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
Nick Eccher, a 2013 attackman from Creekside H.S. in Jacksonville  has made a verbal commitment to Coach Jim Morrissey at The College of the Holy Cross. The 6-2, 190-pound Eccher recorded 57 goals and 40 assists during his junior season as a Knight. He was named a US Lacrosse High School All-American and recognized as a First Team All-District representative. Nick also plays for the Jacksonville Lacrosse Club (JLC) and attended The Baltimore Kickoff (all-star selection), the Brine Shootout (Florida 22) and The Battle of the Hotbeds. He was selected to be a member of the team representing Florida at the Brine National Classic Tournament. Nick also plays defensive end for the Creekside Football Team. Holy Cross’s head coach, Jim Morrissey, contacted Nick with the offer to become a Crusader after seeing him play over the summer in Baltimore. A major factor in Nick’s decision was the overall view on the game that Coach Morrissey shared during the recruiting process and the coach’s philosophy on giving back as an athlete~ through programs such as Big Brothers. Nick would like to thank Coach Rob Jennis, founder of the Creeks Lacrosse Youth Program in Jacksonville/Creekside High School Head Coach for all his support and creating the early opportunity to play the game in North Florida. He’d also like to thank the other Creekside coaches that have worked closely with him ~ John “Jacko” Jackowiac, Jerry McKernan, and Joe Byrns. Finally, Nick would like to recognize the Jacksonville Lacrosse Club (JLC) and Coach Patrick Harnett, Coach Matt Kerwick and Coach Brian Duncan who have coached him during the club seasons. Coach Duncan pushed him especially hard this past summer to increase his lax IQ.
