DeeP South Conference Honors Pair of Spartans

(Shirley, N.Y.) has been named the Deep South Conference Defensive Player of the Week and attackman Jonathan Franzese (Lynbrook, N.Y.) was named freshman of the week. Mars Hill College senior attackman T.J. Cowx (Delta, British Columbia) has been named the first Deep South Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Fiorucci played a big role in Tampa’s season-opening win against Florida Southern, racking up eight saves while allowing only four goals. His stellar play helped the Spartans notch a victory in it’s first-ever lacrosse game. Fiorucci added a ground ball to help Tampa capture an early DSC conference win. Franzese also contributed to Tampa’s 7-4 win, scoring a pair of goals for the UT. He did his damage on two shots, while adding a ground ball on the day. The freshman scored the game-winner for the Spartans in the fourth period against Florida Southern College.

Cowx led Mars Hill to an 11-5 season-opening conference victory over Rollins College. Cowx had two goals and two assists for the Lions. He took four shots on the afternoon, including three shots on goal. Cowx also piled up seven ground balls for Mars Hill.
