Doubleheader This Week: Launch Ready for Lizards, Bayhawks

via the Launch web site   The Florida Launch return to action against the New York Lizards in a road game Thursday, July 14. The Launch will then host the Chesapeake Bayhawks on Saturday, July 16 to cap off the doubleheader week. Florida gets back into action after the MLL All-Star break led by Kieran McArdle’s 26 points and Connor Buczek’s league leading four two-point goals. Florida’s last outing ended in a road loss to the Denver Outlaws in a Fourth of July showdown. This will be the team’s second meeting this season with the Lizards as the Launch look to even the season series. In addition to the firepower of McArdle and Buczek, Florida has Owen Blye in the mix who has proved to be a lethal finisher with 15 goals in just six games. Rounding out the talented offense, Lyle and Miles Thompson (combined 22 points) provide yet another scoring threat for the Launch. On the defensive side of the ball, the Launch have vastly improved since the start of the season. Launch head coach Stan Ross has called up two collegiate draftees, Matt Landis and Liam Byrnes, to bolster the defensive front. Landis and Byrnes join All-Star Tucker Durkin in what looks to be a much improved unit. As for the opposition, the Lizards are led by Rob Pannell’s 47 points and Paul Rabil’s 38 points. Pannell and Rabil each recorded five points in the last meeting with the Launch. The Lizards’ offense is very consistent this season but for the Launch to win they will need to take advantage of New York’s Drew Adams who has allowed 137 goals in nine games. The game will be streamed live on Lax Sports Network with faceoff set for 7:30p.m. ET. For live updates of the game, follow the Launch on Twitter @Florida_Launch.
