FIT Men: Florida Tech Set to Clash with Rollins in Final Road Game

(Men’s Lacrosse) – With just one victory after three Sunshine State Conference games, Florida Tech (6-5, 1-2 SSC) will be looking to move back into the league postseason picture when the Panthers face Rollins (8-4, 2-1 SSC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET at Barker Family Stadium. The Panthers are 1-3 on the road this season while the Tars boast a 4-3 record at home. FIT is coming off a loss to No. 3 Tampa on Apr. 6. The Panthers were outscored 8-3 in the first half and trailed by at least six goals throughout much of the second half as they eventually fell to the Spartans 12-6 at Florida Tech Panther Stadium. Jason Terry paced the offense with two goals while Brett Pohlmeyer added a goal and an assist. Long stick midfielderAddison Abramson recorded a game-high seven ground balls against the Spartans to go along with three caused turnovers.Travis Wunder won his matchup at the faceoff, collecting 11-of-19 draws and three ground balls. Rollins stymied a fourth-quarter comeback by Florida Southern to earn an 11-10 road victory over the Mocs on Apr. 9. Morgan Baker’s five-goal performance against FSC earned him SSC Offensive Player of the Week. Justin Diamond scored two goals of his own and Greg Taicher tallied two goals and one assist. Baker leads the Tars with 36 points on a team-high 27 goals and nine assists. Jack Vonarb is second on the team with 32 points on 22 goals and a team-best 10 assists. Connor McClellan has a team-high 14 caused turnovers and 15 ground balls. Alex Petsos is the Tars top faceoff specialist, racking up 104 wins on 165 attempts to go along with a team-high 71 ground balls. Goalkeeper William Doyle (1-0) got his first career start and victory for RC against the Mocs. The freshman posted 13 saves while facing a total of 51 shots, including 23 on goal. Jake Hogan (7-4) started the first 11 games of the season and has 79 saves while allowing 9.12 goals against. Florida Tech is 1-3 all-time against Rollins. The Tars earned a 9-6 road victory over the No. 12 Panthers last season on Mar. 29 in Melbourne. FIT’s lone win in the series was a 9-5 decision on Feb. 16, 2012.
