via press release   The Florida Launch on Saturday night fell to the visiting New York Lizards 20-14 at FAU Stadium. The loss drops the Launch to 0-3 in the 2016 MLL season. Key absences left Florida looking for answers despite strong performances from Casey Powell (4 points) and Connor Buczek (5 points). Austin Kaut and Brett Queener were both scratches for the contest, leaving Florida to put recently acquired goalkeeper Matt Poillon between the pipes. The defending Steinfeld Cup champion Lizards took an early 5 goal lead in the first quarter before Florida answered. Buczek netted the Launch’s first goal of the night on a slick unassisted effort. Owen Blye added another score to bring the Launch within 3 just before the quarter’s end. With the Launch trailing 5-2, the second quarter saw more of New York’s offense. The Lizards scored quickly before Buczek tallied his second of the night on a Florida Man Up. When the advantage ended the Lizards wasted no time getting back on the board with a goal. Buczek once again answered the call to earn his hat trick. New York scored a blistering three straight times to end the half at 10-4. The second half showed much of the same as Paul Rabil scored at the top of the quarter. Flashes of a comeback started to show as Powell and Blye each notched a goal on a powerplay. However, New York went on a four score run to push the Launch down further. Duncan Clancy ended the scoring drought for the Launch with a strong swing on a Kieran McArdle pass. The Lizards added one more to make it 16-7 before the quarter’s end.
