via press release   Launch Open Play for 2016 Season The Florida Launch kick off the 2016 MLL season April 23rd looking to put together the young franchise’s first title run in team history on the back of one of the most talented young rosters in professional lacrosse. Coming off the end of the 2015 season that saw the Launch win four of its last five games to finish the season, the team is looking to build on that momentum including an explosive showing in the team’s preseason scrimmage in a 13-12 win over the Denver Outlaws in Boca Raton just a week ahead of the team’s regular season opener. This offseason, the Launch drafted Notre Dame All-American defenseman Matt Landis with the second overall pick in the 2016 draft, as well as veteran MLL defenseman Ken Clausen and Jeremy Thompson, who joins his brothers Miles and Lyle on the Launch’s roster as some of the most decorated players in lacrosse history. With Landis, widely considered the top defensive player in college lacrosse and Thompson in addition to fellow newcomers Clausen and UNC attackman Steve Pontrello, the Launch have upgraded on both sides of the ball. The 2016 season also marks the start of play for the Atlanta Blaze, Major League Lacrosse’s newest expansion team, whom the Launch host in what will be the teams’ first-ever meeting on May 21st. another notable games on the Launch’s schedule this season include May 7th, when the defending MLL World Champion New York Lizards come to town after the two teams split their season series last year. The Launch will open the season at home at 7pm on April 23rd at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, playing host to the Ohio Machine, who they also split the season series with in 2015.
