From FSCMocs.com The Moccasins went up against one of the top Division II programs in the country Saturday and fell to third-ranked Limestone, 14-4, at Saints Field in Gaffney, S.C. With the win Limestone improves to 2-0, while Florida Southern falls to 0-2. The Moccasins’ defense came out strong, holding Limestone’s offense to just two goals in the first quarter. Limestone tallied two more goals in the second quarter to take a 4-0 lead. The Moccasins’ defense forced 11 turnovers, while goalie Andrew Almansberger made nine of his fourteen saves in the first half. With 50 seconds remaining in the first half Kevin Naslonski’s shot got past the goalie to cut the lead to 4-1 and that’s how the score remained going into halftime. In the second half, after a Saints goal, the Moccasins responded, as Dane Sorensen found Jon Freda cutting towards the cage for his first goal of the season. From that point, though, Limestone scored seven unanswered goals and took a 12-2 lead with 9:57 remaining in the fourth quarter. After the two teams traded goals, Nile Martinez found Stephen Boyle for a goal to cut the lead to 13-4. Limestone would tally one more goal for the 14-4 final. Naslonski scored two goals for the Moccasins in the contest. Dan Krispinsky went 12-20 on faceoffs and led the Mocs with seven ground balls. DJ Lubs and Kyle Plaugher each caused two turnovers. FSC will return to action Wednesday night with their home opener against Deep South Conference rival Rollins. Game time is 7 p.m. at Bryant Stadium. Box Score
