Florida Southern Names Captains for 2011 Campaign

Florida Southern has announced its team captains for the 2011 lacrosse season. Andrew Almansberger, Jon Freda, Chase Juelich, and Adam Ismaeil were voted captains by their teammates.

Almansberger is a junior goalie, who is in his third season with the Mocs. He was named to the Deep South Conference All-Tournament team last season. He has a career .571 save percentage and 9.50 GAA. He has played 22 games for the Mocs.

Freda is a junior midfielder also in his third season with the Mocs. He has played 23 career games. In 2010, he finished second on the team with 19 assists.

A two-time All-Deep South Conference Honorable Mention selection Juelich is a junior midfielder. He has played in 23 career games with the Mocs and led the team last season with 51 ground balls.

Ismaeil is a junior midfielder in his second season with the Mocs. He led the team with 38 faceoff wins last season.

The Moccasins will open the 2011 season on Saturday, Feb. 12, when they take on conference foe Rollins at 3:00 pm. at The First Academy in Orlando.

The game is part of the Face-Off for a Cause program that benefits the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Moccasins’ first three games of the season are on the road. After Saturday’s season opener, they’ll play at Wingate on Feb. 18 and at St. Andrews Presbyterian on Feb. 20. Their home opener, and the first of eight consecutive home games, is Feb. 26 at 1:00 pm. at Lakeland’s Bryant Stadium against Limestone. Limestone was 12-2 last season, made the NCAA Tournament, and is picked to repeat as champions of the Conference Carolinas.
