Germantown, MD – The group of young men representing Florida in the Brine National Lacrosse Classic had a great day today, improving to 2-2 for the tournament and securing the 8^th and final spot in tomorrow’s play-offs for the National Championship. The day started with Florida facing off against Central Pennsylvania.  The Florida boys came out hard and fast controlling the game from the opening face-off.  Dylan Davis and Sam Talkow alternated face-offs and controlled the X throughout the game. Alec Lange led the Floridians with a hat trick and Ryan Brady added a goal and 2 assists of his own.  Chase Elliott and John Kissick both scored a goal and an assist while Robert Jacobs and Marc Krispinsky rounded out the scoring.  Zachary Ashourian, Jon Wiese, and Wes Linxwiler all played solid defense with Nick “Fuzzy” Martin and JR Willers splitting the time between the pipes. The final score was 8-5 and brought the team to an even 1-1 and ready to face Rochester. Rochester, however, was ready for the Florida team.  Robert Jacobs was able to pot one second half goal with John Kissick picking up the assist for the lone Florida goal in a game controlled by the Rochester team. The loss to Rochester dropped the team to 1-2 and things were not looking good for a chance to play on Friday.  However, Illinois was only able to manage a tie with Missouri and then dropped a game to an upset minded Central Pennsylvania team and before they took the field for the final game of the day, the Florida boys knew that it was “win and in.” Florida jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Talkow won the opening face- off and John Kissick make good use of the possession scoring early.  Alec Lange, Tyler Payne, Ryan Brady, and Chase Elliott all scored goals with Robert Jacobs and Nicholas Ranta picking up assists before a surge by Missouri got them back within one. With time running short for Missouri Ryan Hinkley picked up a ground ball and moved it up field to Dylan Davis who was able to find John Kissick for a nice transition goal that broke the back of the Missouri comeback, giving Florida a two goal lead without much time left in the game. Chase Elliott then scored his second of the game, putting things on ice for Florida and JR Willers made some great saves down the stretch. The Florida team secured the # 8 seed in the playoffs and will have a chance to avenge their loss to Rochester at 8:00am on Friday.
