WINTER PARK, Fla. (June 21, 2012) – Rollins men’s lacrosse head coach RJ Rossi will welcome 19 new faces for the upcoming 2013 season.  The newest Tars travel to Winter Park from across the country to continue their lacrosse careers at Rollins. “Rollins College and our men’s lacrosse program are very proud to announce the 19 student-athletes that have decided to come to Rollins in the fall of 2012,” Rossi said.  “We believe we have a great group of student-athletes who will excel both on and off the field.  We also feel that this group can really catapult us to the upper echelon of Division II lacrosse.  Our staff is very excited to have this group join the current team and look forward to the fall.” Entering his third season at the helm of the Tars lacrosse program, Rossi has compiled a 5-23 record.  Rollins is coming off a 3-12 season, which tied for the most wins in program history.  Highlighting the 2012 season for the Tars was a 5-2 loss to No. 2 Le Moyne as they held the Dolphins to their fewest goals in three years.  Rollins scored wins against Florida Tech, Lees-McRae and Colorado Mesa on the season. Joining the 2013 men’s lacrosse team are Gerry Greaney, AJ Gogan, Graham Girty, Keenan Crosby, Patrick Carney, Hunt Bartram, Jack Matthews, Matt Lee, Adam Stefanowicz, Morgan Baker, Anthony Sousa, Alex Pestos, Riley Robinson, Kyle Shepherd, Jack Kelly, Grant Nichols, Josh Orzano, Bob Hayman and Gabe Colon (See bios below). Keenan Crosby (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – Ponte Vedra HS):  plays defense…solid and patient defender that will aid the Tars’ defensive unit…has the ability to cause a lot of turnover…maintained a 4.0 GPA and plans to major in political science. Patrick Carney (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – Ponte Vedra HS):  plays midfield…comes from high school program that made it to the state semifinals…adds quickness and athleticism to the midfield and will be nice addition to team speed. Kyle Shepherd (Winter Park, Fla. – Winter Park HS):  defense and long stick midfielder…local talent that was a member of the Winter Park High School team that made it to the state quarterfinals this past year…extremely athletic…hardworking athlete who has the ability to be very aggressive…very good in between the lines and is a threat in transition. Gabe Colon (Miami, Fla. – Gulliver Prep):  plays defense and brother of former Tars defenseman Jorge Colon…a strong and patient defender that knows when to time his checks…fits well into the Tars defense. Gerry Greaney (Baltimore, Md. – Calvert Hall): plays in the midfield and is also a face-off specialist…comes from a great high school program that ranked second in the nation in the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Rankings…two-way midfielder who can succeed on both sides of the field. AJ Gogan (Bexley, Ohio – Bexley HS): plays both midfield and attack…big, strong player who will help develop and grow our midfield…great dodging ability and an overall smart lacrosse player. Graham Girty (Old Lyme, Conn. – Old Lyme HS):  midfield player…looks to make an immediate impact in the midfield due to size…old-school midfielder can be very productive when he touches the ball. Hunt Bartram (Darien, Conn. – Darien HS):  goalie…member of the two-time Darien High School team that won the Class M State Championship…team finished 13^th in the country in the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Rankings…quick hands and sees ball well…comes from great high school program that has prepared him for college play. Jack Matthews (East Setauket, N.Y. – Ward Melville HS):  high school program ranked No. 22 in the nation at season’s end…knows the game of lacrosse well and fits well into a team defense…highly committed and brings an intensity to the defensive unit. Matt Lee (Madison, Conn. – Daniel Hand HS):  defense…big, strong athletic player who is very aggressive and relentless on the ball…very gritty and adds toughness to the squad. Adam Stefanowicz (Rydal, Pa. – LaSalle College HS):  attack…high school program made it the PIAA State Championship game all four years of his prep career…registered two goals at the 2012 championship game…skilled offensive player who can contribute at a high level. Morgan Baker (Dummerston, Vt. – Choate Rosemary Hall School):  midfield…brings combination of athleticism and speed to the midfield…effective dodger and can shoot extremely well on the run. Anthony Sousa (Franklin, Mass. – Xaverian Brothers):  plays long stick midfielder…athletic defender who has a good stick…solid coverage guy and great in transition. Alex Pestos (Allen, Texas – Dallas Jesuit):  midfield and face-off specialist…earned a spot in the Under Armour All-American Game…combination of size and speed that make him a productive player…has ability to push transition after he wins face-off. Riley Robinson (Costa Mesa, Calif. – Newport Harbor HS):  attackman…first recruit in Rollins history from the state of California…very quick and skilled attackman who can create a lot of offense…a definite playmaker and has a true knack for scoring. Jack Kelly (Winnetka, Ill. – Berkshire School (MA)):  attack and midfield…hardworking player who can play well off the ball…will be utilized in both the midfield and attack. Grant Nichols (Dallas, Texas – Episcopal School of Dallas):  plays defensive midfield…athletic with great speed…excellent footwork and will help the defensive unit early in his collegiate career. Josh Orzano (East Setauket, N.Y. – Ward Melville HS):  midfielder…comes to Rollins from nationally-ranked No. 22 high school program…great footwork and speed…very smart on the field and is a threat in transition. Bob Hayman (Macungie, Pa. – Allentown Central Catholic):  starting goalie since his sophomore campaign…great potential as a player with a combination of quick hands and eye coordination…very passionate and great leader on the field.
