via press release   GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2017 Florida lacrosse schedule has been released. Some game times will be finalized at a later date. The Gators have 17 regular season games scheduled, including nine at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Florida has gone 67-13 (.840) at “The Diz” in the seven-year history of the program. Defending national champion North Carolina is the first team to visit Gainesville in 2017, doing so on Saturday, February 11th. Last season, the Gators traveled to Chapel Hill and defeated the No. 2 Tarheels, 16-15. Florida will look to avenge its only regular season loss in 2016 to Maryland on March 29th, as the Gators will make their second-ever trip to College Park. The Orange and Blue will meet two teams for the first time in 2017: playing host to Southern California on Friday, February 24th, and traveling to Indianapolis to face Butler on Saturday, April 15th. After posting a perfect 7-0 mark in the BIG EAST in 2016, the Gators will host four BIG EAST conference games in 2017: Vanderbilt (April 1st), Cincinnati (April 8th), Villanova (April 12th), and Georgetown (April 29th). Florida is coming off of one of its most successful seasons under head coach Amanda O’Leary, finishing 18-2 and winning the BIG EAST championship for a second consecutive year.  The Gators’ winning percentage of (.900) in 2016 was the highest single-season winning percentage in program history.
