IFL Interviews Florida’s Own Jake Bernhardt-

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
One of best players to ever come out of the state of Florida is Jake Bernhardt.   He has found tremendous success at the University of Maryland and played in the National Championship game last season.  As we covered the MLL draft live here at FloridaLacrosseNews.com we tweeted as Jake was taken 12th overall by Hamilton. Jake was gracious enough to take a little time out of his schedule and answer a few questions for us. IFL – Does the MLL and Hamilton, Ontario fit into your career plans?  Do you anticipate signing a contract with them? JB- As of now I am very flexible with my career plans. I want to become a coach, but I don’t know what level yet and where I will end up. Right now I’m focused on my season ahead of me and the 2012 Terps. When the time comes I will give it my 100% attention, but as for now I’m only focused on the Terps. IFL – Where were you when you learned of your draft? And who were you with? JB – I was at a friend’s apartment and we were able to hook my computer up to the TV. I was with my brother Jesse and my buddies John Haus, Tyler Adelsberger, Mike Scheeler, Mike Erhardt, Quinn Haley and Casey Ikeda. IFL- The next two Hamilton players drafted were Jack McBride, North Carolina and Matt Lovejoy, Virginia.  Are you looking forward to making the transition from conference opponents to teammates? JB – Yes, they are good players and I’m sure they will be good teammates. IFL- What can we expect from Jake Bernhardt and the Maryland Terps this season? JB-Alot! Too much for me to put down on paper. We have numerous goals as a team, but there is only one thing we have our eyes set on, a National Championship. Thanks Jake!  We at IFL wish the best for Jake and Jesse in their quest for a National Championship.
