Jackson Memorial (NJ) 9 – Barron Collier 6

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
In their final tune up before the playoffs, Barron Collier chose an unlikely opponent. They played host to the Jaguars from Jackson Memorial HS, Jackson, New Jersey at Disney’s ESPN in Orlando.   The Cougars wanted a tough match up before heading into the District 12 playoffs.  They got one.  The 10th ranked and undefeated Jaguars came right at the Cougars and jumped out in front 2-0.  Senior Daniel Mora tied the game at 2-2 with an upper 90 lefty rip from 15 and the game was on. The game went back and forth as both teams slowed the pace.  At the end, the Jaguars extended their lead on a couple of penalty opportunities and closed out the Cougars.  Skye Sickles (2G), Alec Lange(1G) & Joey Galuppi (1G) got the other goals for Barron.    Coach’s comment: Barron Collier’s Matt Hunter — “We played one of the top ranked teams from NJ tough.  This kind of game is what we wanted heading into the playoffs and I am pleased.”  Jackson Memorial’s Nick Caruso – “Thanks to BC for playing us.  This was our 1st major test and we passed.  BC has great athletes and play a very Northeastern style of play.  They are young and solid.”  Barron plays rival Naples HS on Tues in the opening round game of the District 12 playoffs.
