While we had a number of players receive voting, these four men received an overwhelming response from their teammates,” said Galloway. “They embody who we strive to be on a daily basis: respectful, determined, and grateful for the opportunity to wear the JU colors. I believe all four will lead in their own way as we embark on our journey into a new era of Jacksonville men’s lacrosse.” Beville, a junior from Fogelsville, Pa., appeared in 13 games last season. He had 15 ground balls, four caused turnovers, and two assists. “Words can’t describe how honored I am to be a named captain of a team that is going to change way people look at JU lacrosse. It’s always been a dream of mine to lead a Division 1 lacrosse team, and 45 of my best friends made my dream become reality,” said Beville. “These group of guys are something special, and I am more fired up than ever to start a season that I’m confident will result in at least one ring on our fingers. Win the day!” Parker, a senior from Nanaimo, B.C., started nine games last spring and had 14 goals, two assists, 17 ground balls, and one caused turnover. “It’s always great to be honored by teammates and for us four to be voted the first captains in the new era of JU men’s lacrosse is extremely humbling.  The four of us have put in a lot of hard work and hours to get to this point and that says something in a sport where nothing comes easy,” said Parker. “The level of competition that this team has brought to 6:00 a.m. practices all fall has been such a special experience to me and I can’t wait to compete beside these guys come February.” Chicquen, a junior transfer from Stony Brook, has already demonstrated a strong presence on the team. “Coming into this program as a transfer I really didn’t know what to expect. Now that I’m here, there’s no place I’d rather be. The energy in this program is unmatched by anything I have ever been a part of and I couldn’t be more proud to be voted captain in my first semester here,” said Chicquen. “There is no doubt in my mind that we will turn every single head in Division 1 this year. ‘Phins up!” Dovan, a redshirt-sophomore from Fairport, N.Y., appeared in 10 games with one start last year and had six ground balls. “We have a great team of men on a mission to get better every day. It is a great honor to be voted as one of the four captains and I am very thankful for that opportunity,” said Dovan. “I can’t wait to put our hard work to the test and help lead our team to victory on February 11.” The first game of the 2017 season is set for Feb. 11 vs. Lehigh at 4:00 p.m.
