JU Facing Stiff Challenges With Men’s Lax Schedule

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First-year coach Guy Van Arsdale will have his hands full with a challenging schedule facing his Jacksonville University men’s lacrosse team. The Dolphins, 5-10 last season and 3-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, will face a variety of stiff tests in the 13-games schedule. JU begins its season with a pair of scrimmages, the first on Jan. 27, 2012 against Notre Dame in Orlando. The team follows that with a second scrimmage Feb. 4 at home against the University of Tampa and opens the regular season a week later at home against Towson. Once again this season, the Dolphins will play host to the Moe’s Southwest Classic at EverBank Field on Feb. 19. JU meets Navy in the Classic following a game with Denver meeting Ohio State. The Dolphins will face powerhouses Duke and Siena on the road as two of their four road contests. The regular season ends April 21 with a home tilt against Manhattan. “We are very excited and look forward to a very challenging schedule,” Van Arsdale said. “We will be challenged right from the start competing against very strong out of conference teams highlighted by the Moe’s Classic which will be the premier lacrosse event in the southeast this spring.” Despite the challenges, Van Arsdale has his sights set on a spot in the MAAC tournament in early May. “The conference will be very challenging and we look forward to working for a berth in the conference tournament,” he said. “Overall, this schedule represents the best Division 1 lacrosse experience our players could ask for. It gives us a great reason to work hard this spring.” Full schedule
