Midfielder has 11 goals in 4 games JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Senior Bobby Stockton was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s “Offensive Player of the Week” after registering six points in two games over the weekend, the league announced on Monday. The JU men’s lacrosse team is in its first season in the MAAC and Stockton won the first in-season conference-affiliated award in Dolphins history by registering five goals and an assist for a six-point week against Denver and Air Force. The midfielder tallied four goals and an assist against the Falcons and scored a goal versus the 18th-ranked Pioneers on Saturday. Stockton also collected a ground ball and fired 13 total shots in helping JU to a 1-1 split over the weekend. “Bobby has been one of our hardest working players in practice every day,” JU head coach Matt Kerwick said. “He puts in the extra time in drills that is necessary to be a great scorer. He deserves this honor for the major impact he’s had on our team.” Despite not starting a game this season, Stockton leads JU with 11 goals and 12 points through four games. The UMBC transfer also has two four-goal games, including one in the season-opening Sunshine Classic at EverBank Field. Stockton has scored in every game this season and has recorded three multi-goal games, including a two-goal effort in a road win over Mercer. JU will look to improve its 2-2 record when it hosts Robert Morris on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
