Just two years after tearing her ACL, St. Edward’s Chloe O’Haire ready to suit up for the Gators’ lacrosse program

For starters, the speedy midfielder is one of the top lacrosse players in the state, having tallied up 30 goals and 9 assists in just 11 games this season, and has already signed a Letter of Intent to play at the University of Florida, one of the nation’s premier lacrosse programs. “Some girls have first, second and third gear,” says St. Edward’s lacrosse coach Don Balch. “She’s got 4th and sometimes kicks it into 5th gear.” That speed and agility makes the other reason she’s so easy to distinguish more compounding. O’Haire’s lacrosse career began in 6th grade by chance. Her older sister decided she wanted to play, so while out shopping for a stick, her mother bought one for Chloe as well. Chloe caught on to lacrosse fairly quick. By the time O’Haire was a freshman at St. Edward’s, she was developing into one of the top underclassmen in the state. After attending University of Florida winter and summer lacrosse camps that year, she caught the eye of Gators’ head coach Amanda O’Leary. “Chloe’s an amazing young woman,” says O’Leary of O’Haire, who also serves on St. Edward’s National Honor Society and Student Council. “She’s basically everything you want as a lacrosse player and athlete off-the-field.” “After [seeing her at camp] we were definitely like, ‘This is a kid we want to have at Florida.'” Read the rest of the article…
