Lacrosse Club of Orlando Completes Undefeated Run This Summer

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
Lacrosse Club of Orlando has managed to attract some excellent talent from all over Central Florida.  LCO  managed to win 22 straight games and netted four championships; Sunshine State Games, Boca Blast, Father’s Day Invite, and Tampa Summer Jam (Co-Champions with LCO Gold after final game cancelled due to weather.)

This unique group has come together from teams throughout Central Florida and features some names you may not have heard before from schools you probably haven’t ever seen play. Visit our Closeout Section and Save Big! The attack features a pair of legitimate sharp shooters.  Lefty Andrew McIntyre from Matanzas and Jordan Williams from Monte Verde Academy.  These guys both have cannons and have been working well together, often finding each other on skip passes and make a deadly combination on EMO’s.  They work with Trey Letson from Winter Springs.  Although the program at Winter Springs is not attracting much attention these days this kid brings plenty of talent.  Lake Mary’s Taylor Ayeres and Apopka’s Ryan Theroux are getting runs on this unit as well.  Lake Mary’s standout, Charlie Raggault, played in the Tampa Summer Jam tournament and looked a solid as ever.

LCO’s midfield is led by a pair from the ever improving program at Bishop Moore Catholic program.  Parker Blystone and Christian DiPaolo are both having great summers and will be a pair to watch in the spring.  Dawson Kizzar, who transfered to Buchholz from Oak Hall, is looking excellent this summer andlong with Spencer Seiler, another Winter Springs player to watch.  Kyle Sande, who played mostly attack at Lake Mary during the spring season, is running midfield this summer and looks great as a north/south dodger.  One of the few juniors on the team, Lake Mary’s Bryce Mumpower, established himself as a clutch goal scorer during the 2016 season and has continued to become even more productive during the summer. Shiloh Shassian had a solid summer at the F/O X and has a great knack for protecting the rock once he’s got it.  It’s been a while since we’ve seen a big guy tuck the rock away like Shassian can.  At the LSM spot it’s not surprising to see Ryan Blankenship playing well.  He’s been on our radar for a while.  But another LSM, a rising junior from Winter Park is making a name for himself too.  Keep an eye on Shaw Bowen.  We think he’s going to be a player to watch in 2017. LCO has played as much run and gun as the next team, which is part of what makes summer ball so much fun.  But a big part of their success came from a solid defense.   Three goalies have been sharing the cage and they have done a great job.  A pair of Bishop Moore goalies, senior Andrew Owens and junior Mikey Randazzio (transfer from LHP) along with Lake Mary’s Michael Hubbard have all provided excellent leadership and do a good job of getting the ball downfield to start transition. The defense is a “who’s who” of Central Florida d-poles.  Lake Mary’s Nick Platt and Riley Lathan along with Will Jones Charlie Rask from Bishop Moore and Noah Altenbach of Apopka have been stout.  This group always maintained great rotation on man down defense.  All of these guys are poised to have big senior seasons. Coach Danny Hogan said, “This is just a really cool, diverse group.  They gelled really well, played unselfishly, and worked hard.  This is a super talented group that also rides hard, chases ground balls, and moves it ball upfield really well.” Amazingly, this senior-heavy team is still, for the most part, largely uncommitted.  Andrew McIntyre of Matanzas is headed to Salisbury.  But other than him I believe the rest of this group is still on the market.  LCO is done until November but I’m sure many of these guys will be hitting the recruiting events in July and I suspect we’ll be publishing some college commitments before this summer is over.
