Feb. 24th – Lake Highland (1-0; 0-0 District) opened their state title defense this evening with an impressive 19-9 victory over the host Oviedo Lions.  The Highlanders offense was dominating in the early going, racing to a 4-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game and before Oviedo crossed the mid field line.  Lake Highland controlled the face-off X all night and did not lose a draw in the first half.  Billy Roll scored 3 of his team high 5 goals in the first half and after back to back short handed goals by Austin Tamayo and Devon Lewis, LHP led 12-4 at the intermission.  The Highlanders cruised in the second half, most of which was played under a running clock.  Lake Highland received significant contributions from first time varsity players including Freshman goalie Sam Webster, Reid Thedford and Kyle Richbourg.  The Highlanders have a quick turnaround as they play host to the Bolles Bulldogs at 6:00p Saturday, February 25th at CNL stadium. Rylan Kortus netted four for the Lions, while senior goalie Alex Perez did his part between the pipes with 17 first half saves. Ovied (0-2) will take on Lake Brantley Wednesday.
