Seminole started the season with a win over Oviedo and followed that up with a one goal loss to Lake Mary, a three goal loss to Bishop Moore, and an upset over Lake Brantley. Down the stretch they knocked off a good Hagerty team and put an end to much of the talk about MCC.  But, Lake Mary was not to be surprised last night. It’s not often that a long pole gets the offense started but Alec Quint got Lake Mary on the board early in a first quarter that was more like two teams feinting and moving than throwing any real hay makers. Kurt Sisco added one more for Lake Mary to end the first quarter 2-0. As the second quarter started Lake Mary began to push the  transition harder and playing faster.  They worked out of unsettled situations to find quick isolations and shots.  Lake Mary was riding well and putting a ton of pressure on the Seminole clear.  Lake Mary’s quick play was a counter to the high pressure Seminole was putting on them with sold play from their D-poles.  Finally, the pressure paid off for Seminole and a turnover turned into a quick goal as Alex Proly found Payton Rivers cutting to the goal as they moved the ball through X on a quick offensive set before Lake Mary could settle their defense. Just over a minute later Sisco found Alex Forehand as he cut from the high wing to make it 3-1. A minute and a half later Sicso had the ball outside of the box as Lake Mary was changing personnel.  He took off down the left alley appearing to catch the Seminole defense napping just a little and with no slide help coming ripped off a nice lefty shot on the run to make it 4-1.  This started the :30 seconds that would put Seminole in a deep hole. Off of the ensuing face off big d-pole, Ben Carbone, picked up the ground ball and zig and zagged his way through much of the Seminole roster on his way to score a fifth goal for the Rams.  On the next face off Lake Mary’s senior face off specialist, Chris Masten (FSU,) started a fast break that ended with a Josh Marmetschke goal to make it 6-1.  The four goal run included three in less than thirty seconds. Masten had a solid night dominating at the X with a 9 of 12 performance. The third quarter saw both teams keep the pressure up and as a result they both got a little sloppy.  Lake Mary failed to clear on three straight attempts at one point but Seminole had a difficult time capitalizing.  Seminole has some great stick work and they are not afraid to throw a long hard flat skip pass.   But Lake Mary kept D-Poles on Proly and Rivers, essentially shutting down the two undersized dodgers with their big defenders.  Despite all of Seminole’s great ball movement they just could not find the match ups that worked and had to settle for outside and poor angle shots.  Chandler Harrison ended the night with 13 official saves and he caused a ton of misses with great angles and positioning. Forehand and Garrett Gile brought the score to 8-1 before Ryan Ormerod would get one in just before time expired in the third, making it 8-2.  Normally a six goal defect would leave just a little room for comeback hopes but the way the Lake Mary defense had just completely overmatched the quick but smaller Seminole team one did not really get the feeling it was in the cards. Lake Mary added two more in the fourth to finish with a decisive 10-2 victory and bring an end to a season that Seminole should be proud of.  Lake Mary will await the winner of the District 7 Championship.  Either Flagler Palm Coast (6-9) or Menedez (4-12) will be the next to try and solve the Lake Mary defense.
