The Leon Men’s Lacrosse Team went into this weekend (Maclay’s Lacrosse Tournament) with a 1-0 record and knew the competition would be strong.  Playing Nease High School Friday night at 5:30 pm and Creekside Saturday at Noon, both were powerhouse teams from Jacksonville.  Friday night Leon jumped ahead by half time with a 4 goal lead (4-0), playing some of their best defense this year.  During the second half with mental mistakes as part of the problem and no flow with the offense, Nease started a comeback.  Even with a poor showing during the second half Leon pulled out a victory by beating Nease 8 -6.    Goals were scored by Nathan Granger, Grant Wallenfelsz, Matt Henderson, Cale Cummings, and Adam MacArthur.  Assists came from Nathan Granger, Grant Wallenfelsz, Matt Henderson, Cale Cummings, and Galen Postma. Coming off with a win Friday night, Leon had to step it up even more  as they would be playing one of the top 25 team in the state.  Starting off with a strong first quarter against Creekside, who beat Maclay the night before, Leon was hit with 6 non-releasable minutes of penalties and 3 minutes of releasable minutes of penalties, during which time Creekside scored 7 goals.  Leon finally started coming back during the second half; especially the last quarter but there was not enough time.  Goals were scored by Nathan Granger, Grant Wallenfelsz, Matt Henderson, Tim Holt, and Cale CummingsAssists came from Nathan Granger, Grant Wallenfelsz, Cale Cummings, and Galen Postma.  Now with a record of 2 – 1, Leon Men’s Lacrosse team plays MaClay High School tomorrow (Tuesday) at home.  Junior varsity will play at 5:00 pm and varsity at 7:00 pm.
